Moving Forward

While recovering from adversity, the only option lying at your feet is to move forward. You can't stay in one spot and you certainly can't go back. The future is golden, so full of opportunity. It's funny you didn't see it before - but it is also sad it has been left waiting.

Although the future is now on your doorstep calling; is it okay to look back over your shoulder and wonder?

(a) How did I survive that? (b) Why did I allow it to happen? (c) Where is the fastest path to safety?

I think those are all relevant questions. But, what happens when the very thing you're running from catches up and reaches out to hold on?

The Act
The curtain softly closes
There is a deep sigh of relief
The jitters can rest now
The audience is all on their feet

After peaking around the corner
Still one guest awaits
He sits there patiently
Knowing it is the encore she so hates

Her feet grind into the floor
Her voice strains from not screaming
He smiles lovingly into her face
Could he be possibly just dreaming?

Her heart beat is timed
With the pulsating throb in her head
“The show is over,” she whispers.
He answers, “No, not until you're dead.”
