Neither can admit
This emotion will always be revived
Within both a place and time
Perhaps its remnants of over-rated infatuation
Or it was just sparks caused by sharp-tongued wit
Excuses begin to be made
And fear blinds the realization we both feel the same
Maybe? Could it be? Just perhaps?
Common anxieties take control of the mind
Where is that concentration – it’s become harder to find
The world is slightly brighter
You're terrified to realize what really could be there
You perceive a comfort
A reason to exhale
From smiling, you notice your cheeks are scarcely tighter
But self protection is what we do
Deny, composure, sheer will to stay in control
There’s trepidation being here again
We've barely recovered from the last one
But logic says, "look here, this one is new."

Hearts flutter
Pulse races
Judgment's clouded
Breath quickens
Hands explore
Lips part
Wet tongue
The body
Quivers more
