It's a Theme . . . Fear Strikes Back

Since this blog's inception, the majority of the posts, poems have encompassed the idea of fear and how to conquer it.
Over the past month or so . . . I think I've let go most of my fears - of course, not all. Last I checked, I'm still human ;)
But, walking around afraid all the time consumed too much energy. You can't fully embrace what you want in life until the bullet is bit.

How did I get over it? Actually, it was easy - believe it or not.

I just made a decision, oh and said the following to myself at least a 1,000 times!!

"Screw it!
If you get hurt, you get hurt.
The sun will still come up tomorrow.
You'll have to continue breathing in and out everyday.
Eventually, the pain will slowly fade.
You'll be alright, it will suck -
But you'll recover -
You always do.
So, stop being an idiot
Learn to enjoy what's standing in front of you."

Sometimes, I can be a complete idiot.

Why is that again, oh yeah . . .

Fear.

It's always when we are afraid, we react; say stupid things; and force ourselves to miss out on a great opportunity. All because of one four-letter word, it's amazing the power it can have.

I've witnessed a theme this week:

Other People's Fear
Fear of . . . the very thing I have been petrified of all year:
Getting Hurt - Being Vulnerable - Feeling Exposed and then Rejected . . .

I listened to a woman express her fears stemming from a new relationship she's in. I was amazed by the parallels; she was talking about attaching; not attaching; fear of being hurt; letting go . . .all points the last 35 entries have touched upon.

Then . . . my second experience was with a man.
Men are extremely interesting when talking about relationship stuff. They see things from a very logical perspective (sadly, unlike most women). I was more intrigued when I saw the struggle and inner conflict surface on his face as he tried to figure out the emotional part.

Of course, there is nothing you can do to help people as they battle with their fears. Everyone has to find their own path and no two paths are alike.

A Way Out
Wouldn't be easy
Living alone
Don't attend
To anyone else
Waves of loneliness
Ebb and flow
It's only part of
The consideration set

Find yourself
Holding on
You're surprised
There's an equal there
Emotions are high
Together is nice
There is a price
No need for alarms
