A Symphony Sparks . . .

There are moments, after re-reading each posting for yet the 742 time, I'm a little alarmed these collocations are derivatives of my mind.

Yesterday at the gym, while mindlessly thinking of nothing in particular, I was reminded of a piece I completed last week and for moment, considered where the inspiration came.

The memory came rushing back . . . music.

I recalled needing to hear a particular song late in the week while driving. Ever find yourself in a moment or mood where only a certain song is going to "fix it" - repower you in some inconceivable fashion??

Yep, that was me.

It's like having a "theme" song for 3.5 minutes.

Think about how many theme songs you could actually have in one day . . .

Well, I thought about it and concluded there are days I could have one every 5 to 10 minutes.

Blame it on the Weatherman

The weatherman warned of the storm
Smothered by a chill
Unsure how to get warm
Rain streaks down the windowpane
Wrap the blankets tighter cover the shame

Clouds crush like cymbals and clap overhead
Get under the bed - keep your eyes shut
It’s just as the weatherman said
The wind howls, it rattles the door
Close your mind it won’t hurt anymore

The rain batters and pounds the concrete
Streetlights catch the droplets cascade
Storm drains overwhelm and should admit defeat
Catch the expression staring back from the glass
The craven child reunites with you at last

Lighting ignites a cerulean sky
The oak tree smolders – branches crack to the ground
That guile child is terrified
Tightness consumes the heart of your chest
Blame it on the weatherman - it’s him we detest
