The past few months have been full of change, wonderful discovery, and overcoming fear.
The later made me wonder - fear . . . it plays such a paralyzing role.
It play tricks on your mind and treats intelligence as if it has no home, no function; frankly, it just isn't welcome.
A wise man once said:
"Hold out both palms; fear sits in your left while intellect holds steadfast in your right.
The two are unrelated - they play no interlocking role
If you have to choose which one will win - bet on fear every time."
There was a reason to deliberate.
Fear - it is debilitating enough to conquer intellect?
What an alarming realization.
"What can I do to change it?" I asked.
"Turn around and face it."
"Then what? Does it just vanish without a trace?" I had to know.
"No, you must take away its power by doing the very thing you're afraid to do. Only then will fear lose."
Another little poem written in ten minutes.
I'm sure I'll re-read these posts and cringe.
Hopefully laugh; the point - they're just thoughts - expressions in time.
Fear
It has a home in my back pocket
I hear it knocking at the door
It sneaks around and finds the one small entry point
And then goes straight to my very core
It shakes and rattles in there
I hear it's call of doubt and tremble
I know I should turn around and call it out
Where is that gift of courage or what it may resemble?
Fear - what limit will you place this time
How do you think you'll get the job done
I don't want to waste with pain
You'll have to chase your goal, I hope you're ready to run

So, what is it you fear, and how will you overcome that fear?
ReplyDeleteTo Erick:
ReplyDeleteWhat is it I fear, well - with change comes fear. It's just the natural way of things. Therefore, at this point; I would say I am a little fearful of everything. But, I am learning, slowly learning unless I'm entering a dark alley that's really the only time fear is allowed. :)
How do I overcome fear: Well, my taking a really deep breath and forcing those destructive thoughts out of my head. It's kind of like talking the plunge, just jump in and do whatever it is you're afraid of.
Well said . . .
ReplyDeleteI'm all over this one. Fear is something that holds me back from a lot of things. Fear of not being good enough, fear of finishing a dream, fear of living a dream. And it truly is PARALYZING. I'll work on fear for the rest of my life. I wonder if I'll ever kick its ass.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if fear triumphs over intellect, but what I have found is that curiosity triumphs over fear!!
